While you can find many books and DVDs talk of instructing people how to lose belly fat naturally, very few actually explain the mechanics of how everything works. People are tricked into thinking that you can get away with just consuming less and drinking lots of water, or protein shakes for that matter, which obviously has limited results and does not last very long because the program is difficult to follow.

Start with an athlete’s mindset

Many athletes do not have to starve their bodies to look lean and muscular; they rarely diet except when they are preparing for some type of competition. But what separates athletes from mere mortals is the fact that they have built both exercise and the correct diet into their regular routines. If you are able to do that you will have no issue losing belly fat for good.

Don’t think about counting calories

You really don’t need to count calories unless you are living off junk food. But this shouldn’t be the case if you want to look great. The main rule to losing belly fat is to consume the right foods and forget about their caloric content. It is imperative to include lots of proteins from sources like fish, beans, lean cut meat, and chicken. In addition, you must also incorporate many green vegetables and salads in your diet.

Consume 6 meals

Just eating 2 meals per day is one big error many people make – one in the afternoon, which is usually junk food from a low end cafe, and the 2nd is a heavy dinner. If you want to burn your belly fat, the 1st thing you should do is to have a hearty breakfast. Eat things such as fish, beans, and brown bread for breakfast. Then eat again three hours later between breakfast and lunch, and fit in another three meals – lunch, and afternoon snack, and dinner. When you break up your super large meals into smaller portions you are feeding your body sufficiently to maintain your metabolism high, which ensures that it is always burning fat. The last meal of the day should be small – probably just a protein shake in the evening before bed.

Workouts

Assuming you really want to learn how to lose belly fat naturally, you need to understand how to exercise correctly. A correct exercise program should include both aerobic and anaerobic exercises – such as running and weight training. Anaerobic workouts help you build muscle, which increases the pace at which your body burns fat. The more muscle you have the more of a fat burning furnace your body will become. Also, when anaerobic exercises are combined with aerobic workouts on alternate days you can speed up the rate at which your body continues burning fat mostly because aerobic exercises help burn fat at that very instant and your muscles ensure that it will remain off.
