Many people struggle with their weight even though we seem to live a good and healthy lifestyle. Most overweight people have a few bad habits that can easily be broken and can result in easy weight loss. In a few easy steps we can identify and break these habits.

The first thing we need to do is to become aware of our bad habits. The way to do this is to keep a food diary for two weeks. This is simply writing down everything we eat and drink each day without making any changes to our normal daily routine.

Secondly we need to study our food diary to identify what our problem foods are. This will take sometime analyzing the calories in each of the foods we have recorded in our diary. This can be done by researching on the internet and believe me you will be surprised by the amount of calories in some foods.

Thirdly we need to identify the foods we are eating that are causing problems. You can identify the high calorie foods that you are eating (especially snacks) and calculate the number of calories they are adding each month to your diet.

The fourth thing we need to do is eliminate these problem foods from our diet. This may seem daunting at first but try removing (or at least reducing) these problem foods for one month to see the results.

Many people find that removing a single food from their diet can make a big difference when it comes to their weight. If you have slowly gained weight over a period of time then then this is probably true for you.

An example of a problem food is chocolate. A single 100 gram bar of chocolate is approximately 520 calories. So if you eat 4 chocolate bars a week this can add over 9,000 calories a month and this is almost 3 pounds of fat. So by simply cutting out chocolate you can expect to lose 36 pounds in a year.

As you can see losing weight can be simple with a little knowledge and the ability to eliminate a single problem food from your diet.
