With the mounting pressures of our society it can be extremely stressful for teens to find beauty within their bodies. The emphasis is on being a size 1 or 0 and anything greater is considered to be overweight.
These pressures can push teens to the brink enticing them to become anorexic, bulimic and can cause poor overall eating habits. Along with this are the newly popular tonics and pills that are now available for weight loss. The combination of all these factors can be very damaging on their fragile growing bodies.
If you are looking for a quick way to drop the pounds, there is a healthy alternative which we will discuss. However, you should determine if you even need to loose weight. Are you truly overweight for your age? You can check this by using a BMI Calculator. You enter your age, height, and weight and this nifty little tool will tell you if you are at your correct weight, over weight, or under weight.
After determining this information and you find that your results are that you are overweight here is how we are going to take that weight back off again. For one week keep a record of your daily eating habits. Everything that is consumed whether it be solid or liquid. At the end of the week go through this list and try to determine where the bulk of your calories are coming from. For example: if your diet is really high in processed foods such as chips and sodas, you will want to incorporate more wholesome fruits and vegetable, legumes and whole grains into your diet. Exchange those chips for carrots and that soda for water.

Walking consistently can increase your rested metabolism, it works all muscles at once, and has been shown to release stress and tension when done outside.
The exercises listed below will be great at increasing your metabolism to aid in your weight loss, but they also are chosen for their ability to reset your metabolism from years of abusive non-eating or over-eating, and yet they are gentle enough to be done by any teen without harm. You can do these exercises in conjunction with the walking, but don’t overdue it as that can have the opposite effect on your weight loss if your body senses it is in survival mode by the sudden drop in available calories.
